In India, urad dal papad is a well-known vegetarian side dish. In fact, papads are a popular protein-rich snack all across the world. The best thing about papads is that they can be preserved and stored for a long time and eaten whenever they are needed.

METHOD AND PROCESS INVOLVED IN PREPARATION

To the urad flour, we add all of the masalas such as green chilli, cumin seeds, and asafoetida. Mix thoroughly. By adding water, bind the ingredients together to make a very hard dough. We apply a little oil to the dough and knead it with a strong pestle to make it softer. We make a set of balls that are all the same size.Then we roll each ball out on a rolling board in a circular motion using rolling pins. If the papad tends to adhere to the rolling board, we use oil. In direct sunlight, we dry the papad.

The ingredients involved in making these Urad dal Appadam are urad dal flour, green chilli, cumin seeds, asafoetida and Cumin seeds.

Urad dal contains a high amount of both insoluble and soluble fibre, which aids digestion. It helps to bulk up the faeces in the bowel by promoting peristaltic action. It works well for diarrhoea, constipation, cramps, and bloating.
